The British Open had been extended to 72 holes seven years earlier. The USGA decided to do the same in 1898. It also separated the Amateur and the Open Championships. The Open was played in June at the Myopia Hunt Club in South Hamilton, Mass., on a nine-hole course which required the competitors to go around eight times in the two alloted days.
Fred Herd, a Scottish professional at the Washington Park course, Chicago, did the rounds in 84-85-75-84--328 to win. Alex Smith was second; he was later to win twice.

One of the best exponents of the Gaelic (largely Irish) Game of Hurling.A similar game is played in Scotland, called Shinty. Hurling is recognised as the fastest field game in the world. Sylvie Linnane played for the county team of Galway both as a younger and senior player. His heyday was in the 1980's, which saw him win several all-ireland championships.
He currently coaches a local Hurling team to his home town of Gort, Co. Galway. The club name is Beagh. Sylvie was often described as terrier-like and tenacious in his defence of the back line. He was nimble and quick on the ball, very skillful and fearless. Undoubtedly the fans favourite in many polls taken right up to this day.

Bloco Vomit is a Scottish band, from Edinburgh. In 1995 they started playing what they call a "Samba Punk", mixing the traditional rhythms from Brazil with a raw, primarily punk. The name "Samba Punk" is also a pun on the "Samba Rock", a brazillian variation that follows the same principle, that of mixing traditional percussive music with guitars.
Bloco Vomit also mix reggae, r'n'b, rock and garage elements. The percussion arrangements follow the same pattern of a brazillian bateria, with 10-12 drummers plus trumpet, guitar, vocals and sometimes bass.
The band has three cds until now - "Never Mind The Bossa Nova - Here's Bloco Vomit", "Play This Ya Bastard!" and ".vom".
"Never Mind The Bossa Nova - Here's Bloco Vomit" was their debut album, recorder on June 30th and September 13-14th 1997, released in the same year by their own label X-Creature Productions and in Brazil by Trama Records. The album features 12 songs, all of them covers of punk or post-punk bands such as The Clash, Sex Pistols, Jonathon Richman and the Modern Lovers and Siouxsie and the Banshees, mixing Samba, Maracatu, Batucada and other brazillian rhythms with guitars and punk.
In the following year the 2nd cd came out. "Play This Ya Bastard" gave continuity to the band first album and their mixing of samba and percussion. Recorded in at Chamber Studios in Edinburgh. Engineered and mixed by Grant McNamara. Released on their own label X-Creature Productions and in Brazil by Trama Records. This new cd not only had cover of Dead Kennedys, Buddy Holly and Richard Berry, but also featured two Bloco Vomit's songs: Carnival in Olinda and Methadone Maracatu, written while the band was spending Carnival in brazillian city of Olinda.
The 3rd CD, ".vom" was recorded on 9th and 10th December 2000 and January 20th 2001, engineered and mixed by Ben Ivitsky. Consisting of four pieces, two of them were original. One of them, "O Encontro de Ian Heavens com Chico Science No Ceu" was an homage to brazillian singer Chico Science, who died in February 2, 1997 in a car accident. Science work had a huge influency on Bloco Vomit's work. The song was also a tribute to Ian Heavens, co-founder of Bloco Vomit, who died on the 22nd December 2000. The name of the song came from a Chico Science song and its name means "The meeting of Ian Heavens and Chico Science in Heaven". The song is a remake of Methadone Maracatu and featured Claudio "Zambohead" Maracatu guest vocal.
Others song in this record include Van Morrison/Patti Smith song Gloria, The Man Who Sold the World, by Bowie and another original song, No Immunity.

Bengi- Racist Word
[edit]The word Bengi is the racist word for cussing Bengali people from bangladesh. It is equivalent to the words "Nigga" and "Honkie". It is mostly used around the East London areas which has a lot of bengali people living there. Bengali people may use it to address other bengali people saying "Wassup my Bengi". But if any other cultured people say it it will be a racist word.

(source: lecture notes supplemental materials on Mexico, the power of patronage parties)
Sexenio:Is one of Mexico’s most important political institutions. It is the term limit on the Mexican Presidency which limits the office holder to one six year term. It is important because it is one of the few limitations on executive power in Mexico which is strong at Local, State, and National levels. Without the Sexenio Mexico would most likely not be considered a democracy since most presidents are elected by one party. Example: PRI rule of Mexico for most of the 20th century.

It looks identical to a Scotch Bonnet Pepper, but is not hot. In Venezuela, it is used as the main flavoring ingredient in empanadas (meat pies). The flavor is very pervasive, kind of like a bell pepper, but totally different; more of a tropical, mango, pungent flavor. Never tasted anything like it.

Acitpil is an electronic musician from Ayrshire, Scotland. His first release "Hyperpalin Boledromes" is a very abstract affair with distorted samples of medical reports and TV Shows being manipulated against a modular/analogue synthesizer presence. his sound also has a heavy use of broken beats and dark ambience, each track constantly changes tempos and frequencys. the LP has a very similar arrangement to the work of Karlheinz Stockhausen. Acitpil has his first official LP released through Stamina Records during February 06, the lp is titled "cheyne-stokes". The artist has made 3 tracks available on www.garageband.net. There is very little (if any) information on the artist's live shows. Acitpil responded to an e-mail interview from Glasgow based fanzine "Muzaak". He only answered 3 out of 10 questions stating that he enjoys Ableton Live and Wavelab software and that he currently resides in Ayrshire. He also gave the information on his upcoming release.
- We'll certainly need more verifiable information than that in order to start an article. --Dystopos 05:20, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

The SPRITE Infra Red detector is named after the process of signal integration carried out by Signal PRocessing In The Element. The technique was invented by the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment at Malvern and allows the build up of detected IR signal in a Cadmium Mercury Teluride strip (CMT)by applying a bias voltage across the strip. The detector is used in a scanned Thermal Imager and the bias voltage is adjusted to force electrons produced by the detected energy at one end of the strip, to drift to the far end of the strip in time with the rate of the scanning such that energy from the same response is built up along the full length of the strip. This allows a much simpler way of integrating responses that linking seperate detector cells. This type of detector was used in a series of thermal imagers known as TICM (Thermal Imaging Common Module).

I created an article at Santa Sabina (band) and disambiguated from the Basilica Santa Sabina. I corrected some grammar, tightened the text, and removed some POV and original research (unsourced critical reviews, etc). --Dystopos 06:02, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

The Nikon FM10 is a beginner or student level, interchangeable lens... (snipped)
You seem to have done a pretty good job on this article, but I'm not sure if it's notable enough. There may be some neutrality issues, but the real problem is that we don't usually have articles on things like cameras unless they're significant--just like we don't have articles for all car models, but we do for some well-known ones like the Trabi or the Model-T. If this camera model has that kind of importance, then it should be established by the article. I'm not a professional photographer, but the article doesn't establish the kind of notability that is required for wiki articles. --TexasDex 07:20, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- Note, however, that Wikipedia already has an article on the Nikon F-series. You should be fine merging this article into that somehow. --TexasDex 15:52, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
This is a common misspelling for Joshua Micah Marshall. A redirect would be nice.
Uses in movies
[edit]This is used in the Friday the 13th Series (excluding the original), the Halloween Series (mostly in the Curse of Mike Myers), and in the Nightmare on Elm Street Series. It usual occurs when the victim looks away to grab an item (most often a weapon)and the camera pans toward that and then cuts toward the murderer. The most prime example of this is in Halloween 6: The Curse of Mike Myers, when Dr. Loomis encounters Michael Myers at a massacred gas station and tries to talk him into stopping. Loomis looks away to pull out his gun and looks back to where Michael was standing. This give Michael ample time to get an 18-wheeler and nearly run over the poor doctor.
Ways to Avoid This Problem
[edit]Note: These are never practiced by victims in any of the said slasher films, mainly because they are teenage idiots or people who are not physically fit (or both).
1. NEVER, and I mean NEVER, take your eyes off the pyschopath. Know where your equipment is and be able to grab it without even needing to look for it.
2. Stay near densely populated areas. Most victims run into secluded areas such as cabins and rooms with one or no windows. This is about as much of a death sign as handing Jason Voorhees a machete.
3. Being a con man does not help (not counting Freddy's impersonation of Mrs. Voorhees in Freddy Versus Jason). A prime example of this is the Professor's attempt to perserve his life in Jason X when Jason gets his machete back.
